Ireland’s leading tourist attraction, Emerald Park, are looking for an experienced IT Manager, to manage the IT department. This role would suit a dynamic individual who is used to working in a busy, fast-paced environment.

We are a unique venue for corporate events with a difference, in a semi-rural setting, with easy access to all major road links.

Job Overview

  • Managing a small team – the IT Manager is responsible for meeting day-to-day technical support needs, as well as managing the server and network infrastructure. This role involves ensuring equipment remains current with developing technology and proposing measures to mitigate IT-related risks as they are identified.
  • Maintaining the business’s software systems – with a focus on planning patches, upgrades, etc. and to minimise downtime.
  • The IT Manager also plays a crucial role in enhancing cyber security measures that protect the business from potential threats.
  • You will work closely with managers from various departments to ensure that the technical aspects of operations and projects are effectively managed.
  • Due to the nature of the business, we do not offer remote or hybrid working at this time.
  • As the park is open 7 days a week during the high season, some weekend work will be required.

Responsibilities & Duties

We are looking for an individual who is used to working in a busy, fact-paced environment. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a unique business and one of Ireland’s leading tourist destinations.

  • Manage the delegation of support tickets/calls to the IT team.
  • Act as an escalation point for technical issues that require a higher level of support or technical knowledge.
  • Maintain a network of 60+ tills, ensuring a high degree of reliability during trading hours.
  • Ensure staffing levels are adequate to provide the required level of IT support during trading hours by preparing and maintaining staff rosters which respond to varying levels of visitor activity.
  • Ensure robust failover systems are in place for business continuity in the event of IT issues during trading hours.
  • Ensure the corporate LAN operates with high reliability and plan for any changes necessary due to expansion, additional business needs, etc.
  • Oversee backup management, ensuring regular monitoring, testing, and verification of data integrity.
  • Maintaining and updating of IT documentation.
  • Work with managers across departments to fully address and satisfy their IT requirements.
  • Analyse trends in incidents to identify and remedy the root causes.
  • Management and implementation of IT projects.
  • Research and propose ideas that improve operational processes through use of technology.
  • Develop a 5+ year IT roadmap that allows for the replacement of obsolete equipment, anticipates IT needs as the park expands, identifies staff training requirements, and ensures the adoption of industry best practices in order of priority.
  • Manage relationships with key third-party service providers and suppliers.
  • Devise targets to help manage and drive individual and team performance.
  • Develop strategies, policies and procedures to support the effective running of the IT Department.
  • Ensure Team members have up-to-date knowledge of all relevant IT policies and procedures. Ensure that levels of skills and competence are in place and are maintained within the Team.

Essential Criteria

  • Third level qualification in a related discipline and 3+ years work experience in an IT field.
  • Ability to manage a diverse workload is essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, ability to explain system issues clearly and concisely.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft product line – especially Office 365. Experience with Microsoft NAV an advantage.
  • Experience in management of Backups essential. Knowledge of Veeam backup management a plus.
  • Experience with Fortinet firewalls an advantage.
  • Strong Knowledge of VMWare, VCenter and management of VMs.
  • Experience with Active Directory Management.
  • Cybersecurity and Data Protection abilities.
  • CompTIA, or other IT certifications a plus.
