Full-time permanent role 45 hours on average

Working conditions

  • Rotating roster with a variable number of weekends per year.
  • 20 days annual leave.
  • Salary €31,400 per year.

Role & responsibilities

  • Routine cleaning and maintenance of animal enclosures.
  • Preparation and distribution of diets.
  • Monitoring and reporting physiological and behavioural changes in the animals.
  • Routine husbandry tasks handling and training animals.
  • Engaging with guests and promoting the conservation partners Emerald Park supports.

Minimum requirements – experience & education

  • 5+ years paid experience working in an accredited zoological collection.
  • Secondary education and / or, if successful, is willing to complete DMZAA within the first two years of working at Emerald Park.

Preferred requirements – experience & education

  • Experience working and training domestic hoof stock, birds, and / or small mammals.
  • Experience working in diverse teams.
  • Tertiary level education (has already completed DMZAA, or, if successful, is willing to complete it within the first two years of working at Emerald Park).

Physical requirements

  • High levels of physical activity, strength, stamina, and / or endurance are required for this job.
