Working conditions

  • Working 5 days Monday to Sunday.
  • 20 days annual leave.
  • Salary €31,400 per year.

Role & responsibilities

  • Daily routine husbandry and maintenance of aviaries.
  • Preparation and distribution of diets.
  • Routine husbandry tasks handling and training birds of prey.
  • Preparing and presenting daily demonstrations throughout different times of year.
  • Engaging with guests and promoting the conservation partners Emerald Park supports.

Minimum requirements – experience & education

  • 3+ years paid experience working in an accredited zoological collection, preferable with Aves.
  • Secondary education and / or, if successful, is willing to complete DMZAA within the first two years of working at Emerald Park.

Preferred requirements – experience & education

  • Experience working and training birds of prey, particularly the larger raptors.
  • Tertiary level education (has already completed DMZAA or, if successful, is willing to complete it within the first two years of working at Emerald Park).

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Willing to accept constructive feedback.
  • Resiliency and proactivity.

Physical requirements

  • High levels of physical activity, strength, stamina, and / or endurance are required for this job.
